Something about samonilla being pushed through the breathable membrane if washed before storage (I've always givin them a good scrub before going in the fridge). I call BS...
I'm with you on BS I have had chickens for years and dirty clean they all go to the fridge together my take is you don't eat the shell so WTF. I do bake them instead of boil them so maybe that's what's keepen my system in check.

The problem with salmonella in chicken eggs is from the parent hen. If she has it, the egg gets it. Yeah, a shell may be dirty, but it is minor. All eggs get washed before they make it to market, well, except ones from small mom and pop produces.
Given the problems keeping it out of flocks, it is best to throughly cook your eggs. When you do that it is a non issue. Eating partially cooked or raw eggs is like putting a loaded gun to your head. Sooner or later it will get you.
