The lex just got a driveline upgrade. FXR UPR did the work for me while iI was out of town.

Top notch! Great guy to deal with!

Cheers,

John

Look at you go............I am totally jealous :flipoff2:
4.88s eh....I think i am going to have to test drive those.

I take it your vibe is gone:clap:

Oh yea....forgot to mention this but I call SHOTTY on your 80 when you get tired of it:D:D.....I just hope mine lasts long enough for that to happen.

4.88s make a huge difference on a 80 (lx450) with 35s over stock gearing. The motor gets back into its power band. I think Ill have to regear the Hundy when we do 35s. Im hoping to convince John to do Marlin Crawer t case gears when we do his part time conversion.

I tow my trailer so much now that the "powa" button isn't really cutting it any more.......I need 4.88s.

How much and how long would it take you to do my truck D.

PM me.

Geordie,

its like night and day! Truck was a dog before. Right now I'm 12% over geared and when I put the weight on it, this will matter.

Marks gears gives me another 25% reduction off road. Not sure I need it (of course I do but I got other bills) and still have to think about it.

I'm gone for another two wekes but back arount he 14th. You're welcome to go for a drive.

There's a line up on this build already - it'll be a war;p

So what do you mean by over geared? I was led to believe that 4.88s but us back very close to stock on the shift points and speedo......you mean your GPS says you are doing 100kph and your speedo says you are doing 112kph...sure those aren't 5.29s.....you need to go to 38s:eek:

Stock gears with 35s are 8% under (gps says 108 speedo says 100)

I live pretty close so when the auction starts I will be right in the front row:grinpimp:

Mathematically there is a difference but I think in actuality you'd never feel it. Based on my calcs on the original gearing and 31 inch stock tire height, I am now geared 12% lower with 4.88's and 35's.

With the auto box and my right foot, I'd never know the difference - especially since I got it with 33's.

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get the Marks gears. When you look at the already significant stock ratio of the 80 series (which is way better than my 73 series 1.99:1) and only increase it by 25% to 1.311:1 its already very good.

Again with the autobox I'm not going to experience any significant change for compression braking, and the torque converter will absorb and modify all forward momentum. I bet you'd really notice 25% with a manual box though.

My dollars will go to a sub tank set up. - about the same cost. And these trucks are thirsty.

.............. And these trucks are thirsty.

They certainly are, cruising speed and terrain play a roll but only to a certain extent. A freshly tuned up empty 80 in stock form gets around 18 mpg.

My truck, stock gears on 315s with 30lbs of air, loaded for travel/expedition and running at 45-50 MPH max (two lane highway-NOT freeway) gets about 15 mpg. These are IMP gallons. This was based on about 2000 miles of mixed driving.

I quit keeping track on a daily basis, one trip up the mountain with some low range and your figures vary.

Worst recored mileage was around 4mpg......low range in 1.5 feet of snow.:steer::D
