Pretty cool. I wonder what market segment they're after.

Looks like they are going after the hobby segment with this one vs. professionals who need a machine for field work. Especially with the fixed cords on the torch. That would not be a great idea in the trades. Supposed to be a low price, we'll see. I was going to buy one of the small inverters with a few built in pulse modes but it is DC only, this is AC DC...kinda cool. I'd love it if they put a simple pulser on it, but I guess the idea was to make this machine have everything you need and no extras to keep the cost down.

I'd like to see one in person, but my local Miller dealer does not have them yet.

I'm not crazy about having the fixed cords on the torch. It would make more difficult to transport.

I guess Miller is finally having to address the competition from the cheaply made chinese tools.

Your right about transporting it, it would also be a pain if you damaged it and then had to tear the whole thing down to replace the cord. I keep a spare gun and cord around for my Mig machine after a weekend of no welding during a major project where my gun was damaged.

I think they did that to cut costs.

My take is that they are trying to get into the lower price points like you said and get more people into welding by having an affordable machine. It comes with a "tig welding for idiots" book so that tells you a lot...

I like it for the small size and for the fact that it's got an AC mode unlike the STH that they have now. I don't want to drag around a $4000 AC/DC inverter with an electronics panel that cost more than this machine does. The simplicity appeals to me but I think they took it too far with the cords...
