PabloCruise-Thanks for the compliment! I sourced that rubber mat from Rubber Cal. They have tons of styles/colors/options! And yes, I am running the old Man-a-Fre front/rear FJ55 bumpers built by Renegade Fab back in the day. I really dig both of 'em. Ridiculously stout, well designed and made.

OINK! OINK!

Thank you! Looks like you went with the Block-Grip?

I know this is an old thread but can you tell me where you got the 4" Extended SS braided brake lines
Any help would be much appreciated

And so it begins again...

I disassembled the rear end on the Princess Pig and have PB Blasted everything for tomorrow's onslaught!

4" Extended SS braided brake lines will be installed tomorrow...

No air tools. It has not been bad at all actually. No real rust at all under this pig. High desert score! Everything has come off, thus far, quite easily. Let's hope that's the case tomorrow. :)

I have used Paragon Performance in the past ('85 4Runner with OME lift). I think Cruiser Outfitters and some of the other vendors can easily help you with that. I went direct to Paragon FWIW.

If I recall correctly I sourced those brake lines locally. Couldn't find what I needed and had to make my own. Went to a 'hydraulic/fittings' shop here in town and gave them the lengths I needed along with the connectors I wanted and they came up with those. They weren't perfect... I was hoping for different connectors. Originally I was afraid I would snag/break one of them while wheeling' because they stuck out/were so long but I haven't yet had any problems with them.

Is that a FJ40 PRERUNNER FRONT BUMPER you have on there?

Nope. That's a FJ55 specific 4Plus bumper I got from Man-a-Fre, same as the rear bumper too. I believe Renegade Fabrication made them for Man-a-Fre... again years ago. Love the bumper, it's a beast!

UPDATE!

Howdy Folks, it's about time I update this thread...

My pig has been mostly sitting for the last 5-6 years. Life and whatnot has taken priority and my pig has been waiting patiently for her turn again. I have started her up and driven her around the neighborhood a few times over the years, but mostly I have had to tow and push her around our property periodically.

Here sits Lily...

My family and I moved outta town and up into the hills back in 2018, and things got tough-er. We bought an old cabin in the woods, and have been carving out our existence ever since. We have two seasons here, winter and 'preparing for winter'. We all love it! Our old cabin needed a remodel, er, to be razed. I've been focused on our home/property and did not have the bandwidth to maintain my poor Cruiser.

That being said, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our projects are more manageable, I can sometimes tinker again. WOOOT!

This past Father's Day I felt not-guilty enough about messing with my Cruiser. I knew my old batteries were shot, but I started there anyway. I confirmed both were dead, and figured I would need to purchase a pair of Optimas again- mainly because they fit my specific SS tray. I also tried to jump start the old pig with my Tacoma... and it sputtered to life momentarily. I had sprayed some engine start down the carb before trying to fire her up because I did not see any gas in the fuel filter or carb.

I had been nervous about the gas situation. This pig has been sitting for so long, and I have only driven it sporadically in years, that I couldn't remember if I had added fuel stabilizer more than once or twice or added more gas at some point, etc. I had tried starting it up a few times in the past, but it wouldn't always run for me. She was pissed at me and I don't blame her.

So, I figured I'd toss the Optimas at her first and start the healing process.

The new Optimas did what they're supposed to do, but I wasn't getting gas to the carb yet. I tried a few tricks to fix my fuel starvation issue. I replaced the fuel filter. I tried to start her numerous times using engine start, and eventually a little gas in the carb. She would stutter and run momentarily, and then die from lack of gas. I was confident she wanted to run, but just wasn't getting gas. I've had this same problem with pigs before. As everyone knows, it's a long way from the tank to the carb in a pig. I finally pulled the gas line off the carb and filled it with gas, and poured gas in the little venturis (?) in the carb and filled it to the sight dot. Turned the key and she fired up and ran well for a minute or two... until I found multiple gas line leaks and I shut her down.

So now that she's getting gas I know she runs well. I track down the gas line leaks and check my stash. I don't have what I need but a quick trip to town for gas line and I'm back in the game. I thought the gas leaks were from rodent chewing, but the gas lines I replaced were cracked and brittle. I replaced several lines...

Once the gas line leaks were dealt with and an overall inspection performed, I felt it was time for a drive. Drove her out of the tent garage instead of towing for the first time in years. It felt good.

After driving for a few feet, I shut her down. I tightened a couple nuts, check the oil again, replaced the filter housing on the carb, poured more fresh gas in her, etc. Pig was starting and running well, gas was in the carb and fuel filter, it all looked clean and good. Brakes seemed to work in the driveway, so I eased her on down the road. And it was fun.
