I didn't even think about the bushing eye, dang. Could you drill out the captive nut completely and fit a regular nut behind there?
Yeah you can, but I did a poor job of doing that. I didn't have a large enough bit and tried using a smaller one to remove what I could. Then when I installed the bolt and nut I had, it didn't work out. I think my attempt at drilling the old threads wasn't that great and I slightly damaged the new bolt and wasn't able to torque it down.
I think I will buy a good drill bit and attempt that again. It's a lot cheaper than paying someone else to cut and weld. Just got tired of messing with it at the moment.
