New Guy's 4 day report (edited)
I've had my new FJ for 4 days now and it's the first new vehicle I've purchased where I wasn't 2nd guessing myself.....
I bought it Tues eve in the rain and has the VSC bust it's butt to save what it thought was an impending crash twice on the way home... Mud and water flowing across the highway in the middle of 2 corners. 22 miles on the ODO, job well done.
3 days of bad weather commuting = a sure footed, confidence inspiring ride to and from the office while the world skates off the road around you. I can only imagine what it will be like with "real" tires.
375 mile road trip in the rain today..... 18mpg first tank fighting a headwind for 100 miles at 65mph. It can only get better.
Was thinking as I pulled into the drive this eve... I've never seen my new FJ clean, dry and in the sunlight........... yet
Next Sat I shop for tires... then the mods begin
Shopped, nothing worth mounting locally..... Tires that is
Had it in snow over the running boards the first Sunday I had it. Tires sucked, but then again, I'm used to a 2500lb rock buggy on seriously cut up (with a tire groover) Swampers with 3psi in the them when I go play in the snow.
Washed it today for the first time is 2+ weeks of ownership. Tues was the first day it's been driven w/o the wipers on at some point. Thurs will be the first time I've seen it in the sunshine clean.....
Ordering some goodies from Springtail Solutions Thurs...
Specs-
2011 Silver Fresco FJ
auto trans
convenience package
off road package
roof rack
factory hitch & harness
alloy wheels
floor mats (will be replaced with Weather Tech soon)
arm rest
Hope to learn a lot from you guys..... RON
