Firstly my name is Jordan. I live in Hickory and today while at the gas station I saw a RHD FJ80 leaving the same gas station and start driving down HWY 321 in Hickory just before the bridge over Lake Hickory towards Lenoir. I caught up to him and he told me to come check this place out! I didn't catch your name, but your 80 series is pretty bada**!!

So I've been visiting Mud for a couple of years (unregistered) lurking and browsing, reading tech info, etc, just trying to learn as much as I could since I attempt to do everything on my own. I've wanted a landcruiser for a loooong time now ever since I saw them over in Afghanistan just dominating anything in their path. I originally wanted an FJ80, but decided on a 100 series due to daily driving/highway miles, V8, third row seating, and other amenities not necessarily available on the 80 series. The IFS doesn't bother me too much (although I'd love to do a solid axle swap eventually). I've been the proud owner of this rig for a bit over a year and completed all mods/maintenance in my driveway thus far.

A little about my rig:
1998 LX470
162,000 miles
Previously owned by a soccer mom (dealer maintained)

Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx 285/75/r16
IVD 2.5 shocks w/ remote reservoirs
OME torsion bars/springs
Nitrogear upper control arms (front)
Slee diff drop
Slee Blueberry front bumper
Slee rear bumper w/ tire carrier and ladder
Frontrunner Slimline II rack
Amazon snorkel (actually pretty decent quality for the money)
Smittybilt awning
Smittybilt x20 12k waterproof winch w/ synthetic line (would prefer a Warn, but $$$$$)
Random parts from my garage axe/shovel carrier on roof rack
Off-brand LED spotlights up front (if/when these die I'll be upgrading to ARB Intensities)
Recovery equipment (snatch block, tree saver, tow rope, shackles, hi-lift, etc)
Blue Sea auxiliary fuse block
Kenwood double din w/ Garmin GPS
HMMWV (Humvee) spare fuel can carrier mounted to ladder

Stuff sitting in my garage that I need to install:
White Knuckle Off-road rock sliders
LED cubes for sides
Small LED bar for rear
Back-up camera

In the near future:
Dual battery setup (IBS, deep cycle battery, possibly solar panel)
Fridge
Drawer sliders maybe
Roof top tent (maybe)

I have a tailgate tent that I currently use in conjunction with the awning that seems to work out pretty well. It would be nice to be off the ground, but my dog can't climb ladders...

Anyways here's some bad quality pictures:

So anyways, if you're in the Hickory/Lenoir/Morganton/Boone/Asheville/Charlotte area hit me up and show me some awesome trails!!

Great looking rig! You are in a good spot to basically meet everyone probably. There are a handful of us in a Asheville and then a lot in Charlotte and eastern NC. Welcome!
Thank you! I just moved back to the area about three years ago and the only trails I remember from my early 20's is Richlands, Brown Mountain, and Uwharrie. Thinking about doing the 36hrs of Uwharrie in August if I can convince one of my buddies here (fellow paratrooper) to join me. I'll actually be in Asheville area tomorrow! Gonna check out the Arboretum and then head over to Moore Cove/Looking Glass falls.

Welcome we are doing a WNC meetup next weekend in Black Mountain come on out. If your still in the area this weekend we can grab a drink or something to. We might try and hit hurricane creek on Saturday but depends on if we get to busy with other errands. Josh

Oh yeah and where were you in division?

I was actually in the 173rd (2/503, Battle Co), and prior to that 2nd ID. My buddy was in division but I can't remember which BDE or BN. Red Falcons maybe?

Oh right on! I was in 5th BDE (re-flagged 2nd BDE now) at Lewis. Tried to get into LRS up there since I was airborne qualified in a leg/mech unit, but a short vacation to Afghanistan got in the way haha. PCS'd to 173rd pretty soon after that so I would no longer be a 5 jump chump.

Hey that was me! You've got a really nice build there. When I saw you pulling up behind me, I could tell it was no joke. I long for the comfort of the hundy, but my pea sized reptile brain got me into this thing so I keep gutting it out, lol.

Like I said I'm up here in Lenoir. There are getting to be a few of us up this way. Folks travel from CLT to Richland on occasion and it's usually a good time, even when somebody has to drag a 2wd 4rnr up all of the ridges.

I've got 3 boys, so I mostly keep it family friendly, but I'd like to do some grown up trips this year also. Hope to see ya around!

Welcome to the area, I am south of you in Chesnee, SC

Welcome! Was stationed at Ft. Lewis from '87 to late '90 with 1/9 Air Calvary with now defunct 9th ID! My Cruiser lust was fed while there by a CPT. That had a blue 62, then a fellow LT that got an early 80's FJ40!

All these damn falcons, where is the blue falcon? haha Just a dumb, slow Marine here lol
Your signature quote makes me wish I was a part of this a long time ago haha! I do love me some beer and guns... and of course Toyota trucks...

Welcome Jordan. You are in a great area with relatively quick access to lots of spots to explore.

Great looking rig youve built up there.

Welcome, Jordan, glad you found us! Your 100 looks pretty amazing, hope to see it in person some day soon.
