Hi all,

Wanted to introduce myself and my new truck. My name is Chris and I am a long time car enthusiast (BMW, AUDI, VW) and this will be my first truck apart from a brief stint with a 2011 Tahoe Z71. I am a passionate car/truck owner and keep them in the best possible condition, usually better than I received them.

I currently drive a 2013 Audi S4 that I will be parting with for something more daily/winter friendly. My plan is to get something more sporty/track oriented come spring. After much deliberation and changing my mind multiple times, I decided on a 100-series LX as I felt it would be a great option! I picked it up this weekend and just got it home. My plan for the truck is to have it as a DD that will be slightly built for occasional off road use. The AHC works like a charm so I'm keeping it until it breaks and will most likely go with a OME kit. Planning on some 275/70/18 KO2 tires in the coming weeks (had them on my '11 Tahoe and loved them), front bumper and tint for this year. Then next spring/summer start adding some more items.

Details on the truck...
2003 LX470
163k miles
GA/NC truck it's whole life (picked it up in ATL)
Picked it up for a great price and drove it all the way back to NY with no issues.
It came with every record since it was brand new from Lexus which was amazing! Always dealer serviced and brought in every 3-5K miles to have anything and everything on it fixed that wasn't up to snuff.

Few items I noticed on the long drive home that will be addressed:
-Replace crappy ML speakers and subwoofer (PO installed a JL sub in factory location but it and most of the door speakers are blown)
-Rear view mirror vibrates and needs to be secured
-Steering wheel wood is peeling bad and leather is worn down. Looking into possible replacements..

Next up will be protecting my new beast. I've detailed cars for a while now and will be giving this truck the full treatment. If anyone is interested, here's my detailing page www.instagram.com/merritt_detailing I used to do it as a side job through school but now just do it as a hobby.

She will get a decontamination, full paint correction and ceramic paint coating on the paint, windows, trim and wheels. Naturally, after protecting the top side, I will be protecting the underside as well. I haven't decided yet but I think I will be putting POR15 on the underside metal (rear axle, frame, suspension components) and then spraying fluid film as well to protect it from the elements.

Glad to be a part of the forum! My younger brother joined a little while ago with his immaculate FJ62 out of Texas and he got me into looking for a LC/LX as my next vehicle!

Onto the pictures:

Interior: It's obviously been used but in good shape for a 13 year old car. Seats will get the leatherique treatment here soon.

I already took out the 3rd row

Underside is in great shape and I will keep it that way! The truck spent a few months in Ohio with the PO during a long trip but hasn't been exposed to the elements since. The spare wheel will also be detailed and have a ceramic wheel coating applied to it to protect it.

sweet ride... CONGRATS

Welcome and clean rig! Sounds like you've already done your research!

Thanks guys! I actually committed to buy the truck a week or so ago but went to get it this weekend so I've been reading around quite a bit in ih8mud and the internet in general trying to learn all the basic info about these trucks. I'm no stranger to forums so I'll try my best not to ask those common searchable questions!

Welcome! Good looking LX. I'm running 275/70/18 sized tires and I think it works well.

I'm thinking about going the other way (well keeping the 100), to VW/AUDI for a DD. We might have to talk.

Welcome!!! Nice rig.

Thanks!

Thank you. I'd be happy to talk about the Audi/VW/BMW world. I've had a few BMWs.

Does the 275/70/18 fit in the spare tire location? I'd like to get 5 tires but am wondering if it will fit in my spare tire area..

I had a couple of E39's... going from BMW to toyota is kinda boring. Drama free, knock on wood.

I always liked the E39s. I had a 2003 330i ZHP and then a highly modified, high horsepower 2007 335i coupe that I regrettably sold last year..

I'll PM you about the VWs.

The spare does fit in the stock location with a little coersion. I just can't get the tow ball in there at the same time. minor inconvenience.

Sounds good. I'd be happy to help! Thanks for the info about the spare. I have the integrated hitch into the bumper with the flap and I believe it gives me a little more space than the under-mounted hitch.

Great looking truck! I have its older brother, same color interior/exterior. Hope you'll be very happy together!

Thanks! Lots of work to do to get it up to par but excited to have something to wrench on!

Chris,
i am new to the Land Cruiser community as well. Just picked up an 03 LC in Charlotte. 215k miles, very clean California rig that is essentially stock. My only complaint is the integration of the radio, nav and HVAC controls. How is the reception in your Lexus? I do not get any AM stations and FM is marginal at best. Looking at the addition of bluetooth for streaming music and speaker upgrade.

My reception is good. No issues getting stations. I did buy the USA Spec BT45-TOY Bluetooth adapter which works great. Stereo upgrade is on my list as well.
Looking at Bluetooth set ups now will check that one out

Thanks
