New FJ owner here, I love my vehicle in yellow, really great ride, lots of possibilities and also has a lot of great reviews.
I am thinking of adding the Road Armor bumper (about the cracking issue , is that bumper heavy? )and a Gobi low profile rack. And some sliders,
Also BFG AT KO tires in the OEM size or maybe a little bigger: 285/70/R17D
About the tire size what do you think? I do not want to add a lift at this time.
I am thinking about keeping the steel wheels since I do not want to go to 16 inches with the TRD setup….
That’s it for now….great forum and I think I can learn a lot from here…!

Great looking ride. A few things to consider. Adding any after market bumper will add weight to your FJ's front end. Without stiffer coils or coil overs offered by the after market lifts you'd get a lot of sag on the front end, especially over time. Consider getting a low lift 2.5" that way you will keep your FJ from doing endos when ya brake hard.

I have the Gobi Stealth and ladder and couldn't be happier. I do a lot of camping and it's certainly paid for itself in use already.

As for the tires from what I've read there are a lot of tires that don't rub anywhere at 285/70/17's w/ no lift. I had some Bridgestone Revo duelers and they never rubbed, even at full nose stuffs and full lock.

I've heard the BFG's will rub because of their more aggressive lug design, though never owning them I could be wrong. There are tons of posts about this topic.

Personally, I'd suggest build it right from the get go and don't back track yourself. Get a lift, tires, then a bumper and don't look back. Gald you're enjoying your FJ, I sure like mine.

Sirverdusk , , I checked out your vehicle , pretty nice indeed , I like the color, bumper and rack.
Lots of mods…..!
i guess I have to think about what I want to do first …. thanks for your response
Erick.

Very NICE Rig! And Welcome. I used to live in Naples, now I'm in the Orlando area.
Erick, just wanted to say, if you wanted to run a few trails you can join the fjcruiserforums.com and be alert on the runs we have in the Southeast section. Hope to see you sometime.

Cool! My wife wants one like that. I have a real fj40, I guess I can get one for her. They are BA!

A 'real' FJ40? Come on, this kind of derogatory crap against the new FJ has gone on way too long. I have an FJ40 and the new FJ is geared lower, and has more gearing for the highway as well. I get tired of the BS arguments over the new FJ not being a Land Cruiser when it is clear it is one of the many variations. If you or anyone else who doesn't like them cannot handle that truth, then maybe you should go see a psychiatrist and get some zoloft or prozac.

Welcome to the new FJ life. Don't sweat the real 40 stuff too much. I totally enjoy my new ride. Something cool about having a ton of capabilities and being able to do it with your AC on and all the amenities of a new rig. You sshould check out the FJ Forums page; we are having a ride next weekend. Karl
