Heading up to the Nevada desert the weekend after Christmas with some friends. North of Reno, middle of nowhere, 20ish miles from Pyramid Lake. Anyone ever been there? Anyone want to tag along? I know there will be nothing around, and fuel cans on-board are required.

I know as of now, i'm driving my rig, my buddy is driving his, but it sounds like all the other rigs going are stock trucks. Anything to watch out for?

YEah I have been out there with my 4runner a few years ago. I got a buddy who lives in reno and explores the area. He took me to some hot springs that smelled like rotten eggs but had 93 degree water in it. Some bitchin abandoned buildings still exist. I will try to get more info on the area from my buddy and post it here.

Supposed to be some good fishing on that side of the lake.

You will practically be in my back yard. I live in Susanville and do a lot of exploring in that area.

Be carefull if we get much rain. The roads can get very soft and it takes a long time to dry out. It may look dry, but use caution. If you go alone you could be in for a long day digging out.

Walk the road and if you get 10 lbs of muck on your shoes, you may want to reconsider.

If you are coming from Reno north to Pyramid, when you see the sigh for the Reservation there will be trails to the right. To the left is a challenging trail called Steve's Loop.

Lots to do and exploer all through the area, but be careful on the Reservation. They will write you a ticket if your in the wrong place.

Good luck.

what's their point of writing someone a ticket? Its not enforceable anywhere except on the reservation...

I don't know. I just try to avoid all contact with law enforcement. Nothing good ever seems to come of it.
