Hello,

I need to move a FJ40 from NC to Ontario. Seems most of the services posted on MUDship are within the States but I thought I'd ask. Maybe if someone is going close to the border in Western NY I could come grab it from there.

On the other hand I've been looking into shipping companies and things are going fine except there's about 150lbs of spare parts I need to go with the car and it's very vague/confusing/sketchy on whether or not they can be in the trunk when they pick up the car. Does anyone have any advice on that front? As well as recommended carriers that go across the border?

Thank you!

Bujbot,

You are able to have extra items in the vehicle as long as they are vehicle related. No "household" items are allowed. Anything that is in there needs to be strapped down properly and you may incur an extra cost to compensate for the weight.
Feel free to call me or email me if you are interested in a quote to get it to Ontario. Thanks.

You could also try Tall Trep Logistics in Kitchener. I had great luck using them coming from CA to US

Thank you Riverrunner, email sent.

She'sMad: Did you mean tall tree logistics? Thanks!

No reply to my last email to you requesting that you
verify the actual measured height of the vehicle
you want shipped .... :hhmm:

If you go open, the vehicle height
is critical - if it is too tall it will not fit on the lower
or upper deck of a six or 9 car open carrier

If you go enclosed, the vehicle will not fit if
it can't go in the trailer

Last thing you want is some cut rate hauler showing
up at the pick up point and trying to jam your vehicle
on their trailer by deflating the tires or pulling the
vehicle down on the frame with chain binders

BROKERS will tell you anything you want to hear
to get a booking fee - they do not operate the equipment.

Regarding hauling anything in a vehicle, the industry standard
for Commercial Transport is:

NOTHING is allowed in a vehicle for standard shipping.

This is because items shift and can cause damage to the
vehicle and/or other vehicles on the multi car carrier.

If you pay for Premium Shipping some companies allow:

YOU MAY FILL TRUNK WITH ITEMS. NO ITEMS IN DRIVER AREA, BEHIND DRIVER SEAT OR ABOVE LOWER WINDOW LINES.

You get what you pay for ....

Deal directly with who you choose to haul your vehicle

Make sure it goes directly to your destination with
no transfer - that is where most damage occurs

Pay no deposit

Good Luck !

Jim

Hi Jim,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner about it. Like I mentioned in the original email the seller said it was 6-6" but was going to clarify. I found out yesterday that he is measuring the height around 6-8", possibly a bit more because the domed roof is difficult to measure.

We could remove the domed top and let some air out of the tires. But I was thinking that is not the best, like you mentioned in your response above. I'll send you an email regarding this as well. I do appreciate your help with all of this.

Thanks.

Nik

Nik,

Thanks for the phone call.

This is why you should deal directly with a hauler ....

Brokers are in the transport business to get a booking fee,
they seldom ask about the specifics of a load ....

Because they are not doing the hauling ... ;)

I haul just about every day, today I dropped a
Tracker filled with fiberglass panels and a pulling tractor
hood at a paint shop in Anaheim, CA .... :steer:
