Besides optima what other batteries are you guys using? What size is the factory battery?

thanks.

beware... I have a 99 4Runner and the posts were 'backwards' of a normal group sized battery-meaning the negative is where the positive would normally be and the positive post is where the negative would normally be. You would think you could just turn the battery around and it would not matter, but then the cables would not reach. Optima does make a battery to fit however, but verify which one is going to fit before you buy, make sure they will take it back if it does not.

Need to replace battery?

Forgot to mention it's a 99 Tacoma, Extended Cab.

After my optima went bad I shopped around locally and found this through Oreilys auto parts. It is a bit cheaper than an optima and instead of a dry cell it has simular technology using fiber matting and Gel for durability. I havent had this battery long but so far I'm happier with it than with the red top optima.

AGM..absorbed glass mat
they're becoming more popular and are maintenance free which I think is the biggest advantage for those that do not maintain their wet cells.
a link... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absorbed_glass_mat
We use them for batteries on UPS's (uninterruptable power supplies) in industry as they are maintenance free and can be deep cycled. We also put them on standby generators so that they will start when the power goes out as nobody has to maintain them like a wet cell.
I don't have them in my vehicles only because i haven't purchased a battery for some time now.
