Hi guys,

I've just brought a Australian HJZ75 camper, popup roof by Trakka.. Since I've owned it, its either snowed or rained seriously effecting my "getting to know the car period"

I'm working through the list of to-do's - bearing in mind, it spent 20 years in the Auzzie outback and then the last couple being driven to Europe via Africa is hasn't done badly..

A full service is planned as is massive amounts of anti-rust protection....

I'm trying to work out the heating system, there isn't any !! when I run the engine to normal operating temperature (needle at 3/4, need to check the thermostat, air blocks, coolant) I don't get any warm air in the cabin. The vehicle is fitted with airco which apparently doesn't work, possibly due to gas.

So first problem ... I don't know how everything should be connected to confirm if its correct, at this point I should add it has a non working rear hotwater tank also fitted, this is heated by the engine but currently not connected to the cooling system, but thats another problem.

Is there a hidden water tap within the engine bay to stop water going into the heater matrix, I guess the matrix is well hidden under the dash.. are there any simple tests I can do ? I guess I'm looking for two pipes going into the bulkhead. How does the airco work ... errr how does it connect into the cold air ventilation part of the system..

OK I need to spend quality time under the hood and start following all the pipes...

Many thanks in advance

I could be totally wrong here, but it being from Ozi, driven through Africa.....
I suppose you have freezing temps at the moment.......
Is your coolant water? if so has it antifreeze in there? If not :whoops:

Check for frozen spots in tubes/piping.

That looks like a HJ75 to me with the 2H engine;)

Where the heater hoses penetrate the firewall(if they are there) ,undo them and run the garden hose through both of them to clear out any crud in the heater matrix.

There is a tap but its not hidden. It should also be on the heater hoses at the firewall. You should see it open or close when an assistant moves the heater controls.

The heating and aircon is not really complicated. You just need to have a good look and trace all the components and see whats missing

2nd pic shows heater box and aircon cooling bit,I forget its name in a burnt out HJ75(heater fan got fluff in it and caught fire)
Working under the dash is far easier than most vehicles;)

Yep its a 2H

The first job was to ditch the old coolant and replace it, really didnt trust the old stuff... however I didnt wash through the old system .. long story...

thanks for the pixs, I'll have another poke around this evening ...

Cheers Matt

The two pipes connected furthest away are for the rear water heater. The heater in and out are connect, I guess correctly, I would guess the pipe with a thread on it, is for bleeding the system.

Whats the blanked pipe on the water rail for ?

Another angle

Many thanks for your feedback
