I picked up a 2004 4Runner that needs a little work and my daughter will be taking over my 2002 3rd gen.

The driver seat didn't seem as sturdy as it should and I have found out that the early SR5 4th gen Runners had a problem with the frame cracking at the weld.

I was curious if someone was willing to assist with a quick weld or could provide a recommendation of someone/shop that would be willing to assist with such a small job. The seat is in the Runner and has not been disassembled. I would prefer to not pull it apart for such a little job but if needed I will.

Thanks for the suggestions.

That would help.

I'm in Bryant outside of Little Rock. I'm willing to drive to get this done but need to keep it reasonable if possible.

Thanks.

I can probably handle this for you. As a 4th gen owner, I'm kinda curious about this seat frame issue.

Josh, it would be great if you can assist. Below is some basic info of what I'm needing.

Apologies for poor pic but you can see where the crack is. The crack is on the driver seat right rear near the center console. I don't know how hard it would be to weld with just pulling the seat and leaving the pads and cover in place. Several people have posted that they used wet towels to prevent anything from burning. I'm a welding noob so need to leave this to others but can handle the heavy lifting:)

Seems fairly straightforward. Trying to keep the seat from catching on fire might present a challenge, but like you said - wet towels and lots of other materials to cover the seat.

I'm helping ARK_SWAMP_RIDER (Preston) and Waldo with some sliders on Wednesday evening if you want to bring your seat by then. I'll have all the tools out. :)

Josh, this would be great and really appreciated. Let me know where and when and I will be there. If I need to bring anything let me know and I will be sure to grab it if I don't have.

I don't plan on driving the 4th gen unless you think there is a need. I'm still cleaning and performing maintenance on it so it is in variable stages of tear down until I'm complete. I can get a measurement of the bolt holes to confirm it's close when welding.

Thanks.
Tim

WOOHOO, PAAARRTTYYYYY. Lets get some strippers. Wire strippers of course ;)

Josh, thanks for the assist on getting the seat welded. I got it in last night and everything is back to normal, no more gangsta lean:cool:.

It was good meeting you and Preston and BS'ing with Waldo again. Looking forward to the next time.

Tim
