So after surviving several hurricanes over the past 12 years in Virginia Beach and the recent flooding here in Houston, the stock fog lights finally were worn to the point of needing replaced. The reflectors were discolored and no longer reflecting and the lenses were pretty yellowed, but 212k miles & the bulbs were still as they were from the factory.
The problem was after driving through some pretty deep water, the fog lights took on water. I bought some of the 'E-bay' special factory replacements. they only survived 1 flood here in Houston this spring. After being immersed in water the reflectors were brown & worthless. The rubber boot on the rear was shot also - when you touched it your hands turned black - kind of like a flapper inside a toilet tank.
Sadly I pitched the stock fog lights after buying the new (crappy) ones. I should have kept the rear rubber cover off them.
I searched the threads without much luck. I don't want to make the same mistake again.
Are there any better quality replacement fog lights out there? The genuine Toyota lights are going to run me around $300 for the pair.
Thanks for the help in advance.
