Need Recommendation for Auto Machine Shop

Can you folks recommend a good automotive machine shop with 2F experience? I'm in Lafayette, but I don't mind driving a ways...

The usual suspects... rebuild the head, bore the block, install cam bearings, a little balance work . I'd prefer to keep the drive down to 4 hours or so.

Any suggestions?

The only guy around here that I know who knows the 2F and Land Cruisers in general is LJ, one of the mechanics at Northshore Toyota in Covington. Anytime they get one of the older LC's in the shop he is usually the one who works on it. He has also done some work on a few of the LLK rigs with no complaints from anyone. You can call Charles Dye at the dealership (he is one of the service managers) to discuss what they can do for you and you can request that LJ take care of the work for you. Charles' number is 985.80 seven.four 7 five 9. Tell him I referred you to him.

No Sir its seem that the good ones retired or sold out and no ones come in an taken their place. I guess there are fewer folks doing rebuilds and more folks just swapping in replacements What was the result of your ignition gremlins?

Yes sir, FINALLY killed all the electronic ignition gremlins! I now have carnal knowledge of HEI's. Some of the new parts I bought failed, which makes it difficult and frustrating.

I eventually bought a complete new dizzy from Napa... both the module and pickup coil were bad. Fortunately, I learned how to bench test a dizzy. This made things MUCH easier to troubleshoot. Never buy electronic ignition parts from a parts house that can't or won't test them!

After this weekend I should be !!!

Sorry to hear of the frustrations certainly understandable when your buying new parts but great to hear you got it all worked out. Well when I have HEI issues I know who to call
