Need Reccomendation for Bay Area mechanic familiar with 2H diesel

I was hoping the knowledgeable folks on this forum might be able to recommend a diesel mechanic in the Bay Area of California (San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland) that has experience with the 2H diesel. I am looking into purchasing an HJ60 that has an engine knock and need to get it checked out before I make the investment. Plus, it would also be good, of course, to have a mechanic familiar with the engine and vehicle to do an overall check for other potential problems/issues. Also, if I end up getting this vehicle, I will be driving it down to Pasadena, where I reside, so if anyone has a recommendation for a mechanic in SoCal, that would be great, too.

Hi Trip,
I assume you are talking about the one in Berkeley. It could be a great rig. Make sure you look at rust very carefully.
I might be wrong, but you will have a hell of a time finding a 2H mechanic in California. The only shop that I know of is Michael's (aka tlcruiserman here on the forum) in the San Diego vicinity. we did the 2H swap of my truck there, as well as the turbo on the 2H.

One possibility is to search for forklift places online. a number of them ran toyota 2H engines, and still do-they have spare parts and fix them. like:
