our 99 landcruiser's steel belts are seperating from the rubber. my wife mainly drives it in town and on the highway. we're in iowa, so i want something that will be good for winter weather. and the look of the tire is important, we love chunky sidewalls. what are some good tires i should look at?

Tires

I'm basically in the same situation as you, my wife is the primary driver. I have the Bridgestone Deuler A/T Revos on my 99 LC, and they are the best. They have the best all around traction rating, and are reasonably quiet. My wife loves them, and she doesn't hear any difference between them and the Dunlop Grand Tecs OEM tires. I also like the Goodyear Fortera, they are probably a little quitier, but you can't beat the all around traction of the Revos. I live in Michgan, and always buy tires from tirerack.com. They are about 30 minutes away, have a huge selection, ratings, and reviews. Very informative site!!

I have always and consistently loved the Goodyear AT/S tires for the Midwest. They have never let me down in the snow. I'm also a big Dunlop fan too, I suggest checking the various Dunlop tires out.
