Ok I am nuts for trying to do this but I'm trying to thread an 80-87 transfer case knob onto my 75 FJ40 transfer shift lever. I was going to cut and weld a 10mm fine thread bolt onto the lever and just install the knob that way. Then I had an idea. Thread a metric insert sleeve onto the transfer shift lever that in turn fits inside the '80-'87 knob. The OD has to be 10m, and I am figuring out the inside diam.

Question is where do I get the dang metric in and metric out threaded insert? McMaster seems to be lacking. Local awesome hware store has metric in or out but not both.

m8X1.25 is a 5ve23, if you go to the grainger website click on the catalog #398 pdf and put in page 2398.

i get these from auto parts shop, local fastener supply or ACE hardware. i am lucky to have a fastener junky of an ACE owner local, you should see the section, its actually a seperate room in the back of the store. i tried to buy from the local grainger once, they told me w/o a commercial accnt they cant sell to me, huh, i prefer to give my money to small buisiness anyway.
