So I am looking to finally start pulling the tub on my BJ44 to get the rust taken care of and to stop any more deterioration. Since I have never done this before, nor worked with anyone in the area, I am looking for any recommendations on places to start looking into this process.

To define what I am looking to do:
I would like to get my current tub assessed for how much is salvageable and how much fab it would take to replace any bad areas. If the tub needs a lot of donor steel, I have a 1983 BJ42 I could use as a donor. If my tub is so really far gone, I could use the 1983 as a base and use my 44 tub as a donor.

Once the steel is taken care of, I want to seal the tub with high quality primer and paint to prevent this kind of corrosion in the future. I also want to line-x the entire underside and firewall in matching white bed liner. I may also bed line the inside floor and cargo area to prevent chips and allow rust to access the steel.

Any thoughts, recommendations, warnings, etc are greatly appreciated!

Kraig-

I will reach out to some classic car guys I know but I would consider posting to the other local SoCal member forums on Mud to broaden your reach.

Hopefully someone on the BnT forum can help but you might need to widen the search.
Call Kelly Saad in Flagstaff. he's doing some amazing work on Cruisers (Rust repair is his specialty)

I reached out to him via his website... No word yet. Will see if I can dig up a number and call him this weekend...

Came up empty from my classic car guys. I get a sense the real skilled metalwork guys in that circle don’t get shared.

One buddy says he knows a guy but he’s finally getting one of his cars done after 2 year wait. Didn’t want to pass on his number because he has 6 more cars he wants done.

Thanks! Will do that this morning!
