So a little backstory:

03 GX that started making noises that sounded like the infamous front shaft clunk. However it did sort of sound like two noises but I couldn't be certain at the time. I do tow with the GX often so I went and replaced the shaft with the newer design to eliminate any question of issue. The sound now is more a definite "clunk" that is muffled and only heard when I accelerate and not immediately, maybe a 0.5 second delay. When I accelerate slowly, no sounds are heard unless there is resistance on the GX (say when on a steep incline). It doesn't matter if acceleration is int he forward or reverse direction.

TLDR version
I have clunk even after drive shaft replaced. Everything torqued, Diff support #2 already installed.

Where can I hunt this clunk down?

I'm in the same boat. If I'm crusing on the highway and then all of a sudden brake to slow down from 70mpg to lets say 40mph and then I immediate get on the gas pedal, about 0.5 sec delay I get a thump like driveline lash and the truck starts hauling. I'm wondering if this is just normal for truck based SUV with a bunch of yokes and U-joints in the drive line that lashes when it's trying to change in direction from slowing down to accelerating. Now if the same scenario above when I slow down from 70 to 40mph but gradually accelerate, I don't get the thump. It's smooth in transition from slow down to accel pick up. I haven't changed the center shaft yet, still on original OEM. I replaced the front CV shafts already but this thump been there before and after the front CV shafts so I know already it's not coming from them. It's mostly situated with the center of the driveline.

yall may need to check out your rear drive shafts, too. They had/have the same issues with the slip yoke.

I don’t have that issue, only the thump/thud/cluck from a dead stop.

Both shafts are new with the current part numbers (ones without the issue)
