I never knew Toyota sold rebuilt parts but I found a thread on here in the 80-series forum where members were buying OEM alternators rebuilt w/ OEM parts from cruiserdan. Since the GX uses the same alternator as the V8 4Runner (270605032084) I'm waiting to hear back from Dan on a price for a rebuilt one.

I've checked several Toyota parts sites and I only see new alternators. Does anyone know of a site that sells rebuilt Toyota alternators? I need to get it ordered tomorrow and want to have a backup plan in case I don't hear back from Dan in time. I was without my GX last week and don't want to be down another week.

What's wrong with your alternator? It probably just needs new brushes. They will cost probably $20 from your local toyota or lexus dealer.

It's not keeping the battery charged. My battery warning light came on yesterday afternoon. I checked the battery voltage and it was 12.48V. I removed the cables and put the battery on a charger for a few hours and it reached 13.05V. I connected the cables back and started the GX. The voltage dropped to 11.11V when cranking and evened out to 12.44V once running. I started turning the a/c on, head / fog lights on and kept it running for about 5-6mins. and it dropped to 12.90V, so the alternator isn't doing it's job.

I'm not doing the install. I goofed off last week trying to get my rear brakes squared away...I can't take off any more time this week. My local shop is charging me $75 to swap it out so it's worth it to have them do it.

Was told Sam and Onur work at the same place now...and I contacted Onur yesterday along w/ Dan. Hopefully I hear from one of them tomorrow. If not I'll just order a new one from Sewell.

Contact info came off their current signature lines. It should be up to date.

Just going by what CJF told me earlier today.....

Username "Sam Stewart"

He and Onur work at the same place now (in ATL).

Guess CJF was wrong:
Incorrect.

Sam is at a different location and we are no longer working together unfortunately.

Sam is at Toyota South and I am at Nalley Toyota Stonecrest.

Also, it is the weekend. I am not working this weekend, Sam is not working this weekend either.

Dan was will be back in the office on Monday.

We do need some of our alone time away from MUD.

I just placed my order through Sewell.

EDIT: 3/10: 12pm Just got a shipping confirmation from Sewell. Nobody beats Sewell.

EDIT: 3/10: 7pm Dans pricing was more and I needed to send in a core. No core and cheaper....Sewell for the WIN!

Hey guys. First off, glad you got your order in and hopefully you'll get your issue sorted out ASAP. Secondly, Onur and I have both left Lowe Toyota and are both now working in the Atlanta area. Unfortunately, when I started at the new store up here I didn't have a place for him right away. He ended up going to work at a store that I previously worked at and know the parts manager well (Stonecrest Toyota). We are technically competitors now but friendly ones. Either one of us is more than happy to help anytime with your parts needs. The contact info in our sig lines will always be the best contact method and most up to date.

Hope to work with him again one day but for now we'll just have to settle for being good friends.
