The system covers the US and Canada but Im not sure how much .
You can add the Voice mic and it will learn but I didnt get it but i did order the XM unit for it from Cdan to replace the one I have in the center console :bounce:

Are you saying the unit has XM radio abilities or are you saying the navigation is somehow tied into XM satillites?

Install looks great, looks like it was always meant to be there, very nice!

Any advantage to using the Toyota unit rather than an aftermarket unit like Pioneer? It's not like the Toyota unit is plug and play. I am just curious as to why you chose a Toyota unit as opposed to any other brand?

The toyota was almost a plug and play unit . I had to cut into 2 wires ,the speed sensor wire and the rev light ckt (so it knows Im going backword) job . it used the same brakets for mounting, is one piece unit as the DVD player is built into the main unit .The radio/cd is all in one, The XM tuner kit plugs right in and I can use the touch sreen with it . The clean looking install as Im not a big fan of the aftermarket radios (and other units) that are out right now. The silver fronts and "in your face" graphics just dont seem to fit the simple look of the cruisers interior . They are also hard on the eyes at night and this one dims with the dash lights like the stock radio did .

The nav dvd in my Mom's 05 RX330 covers all of the lower 48 and "lower Canada" whatever that means, so I'm sure that one is similar, if not identicle.

Lower Canada is where most of the Canadians live. Not too many live above the border if I'm recalling high school geography right. Something about 100 miles from the border is where most of the people live I think, it probably is more than that but I'm pretty sure most of the people live close to the border (lower Canada).

Nice job Koffer. Keep us updated with usage comments, XM install, and anything else that you can think of. I really like the look of that unit in the Cruiser.

I will sir :D
I will be going to Canada in a couple of weeks so I'll see how well it does then .
Im waiting for my goodie box from the "south of the border fisherman" with my XM unit and tuneup goodies so I can get all those in too before I leave.
With the SC install I wanted to not do anything other then that 1st so if I ran into any bugs I could keep the # of junk I messed with to the least . :whoops:
I try to put a week for "debugging" into each large project .then move on :D
