oh crap!
well, i was finishing up the tcase yesterday and had forgotten to cut off a tab at the top that hits the body. i couldn't get to it with a grinder, so i hit it w/ a air chisel to save time lowering the whole works. well....it came off...in a chunk that now has a hole in the top of the case.
i have to pull the whole thing and see if it can be tig welded. it shouldn't be in an area that would leave a weak spot. i know where the weakest spot is, that's why this whole thing is being replaced. the whole project is almost back at square one.
it should still be ready for Moab.

Bummer. I always screw something up when I get in a hurry.

My latest big screw up was putting a 'new' engine in a Camry without replacing the engine rear main seal or the transmission shaft seal while the engine was out. 2 transmission removals, 2 trips to the transmission shop and several hundred dollars later were the consequences of that blunder.
