Well it seems like this forum has the most active trailer section of all the forums I visit. I hope you don't mind a hummer owner is posting here.

Here is my H2 with my "new" m101A1 that I JUST bought. I really just plan on having it around for hauling duties. My truck is a 2003 Hummer H2 Adventure package.

Does anyone know what bolt pattern these trailers use? Or what rims they are compitable with?

Welcome :flipoff2: (mud salute)

Everyone is welcome here and theres nothing wrong with what you roll with.
As for the bolt pattern its the old Dodge PowerWagon (M37) split rims and I don't know of anything aftermarket that is a bolt on.
Trailer looks good with your H2, doesn't look too big at all (some trucks its way too big and looks out of place )

Good luck with it

good to have you. Welcome!

yes, somehow -not surprisingly- these 2 look well matched.

Thanks fellas the trailer was $900 from a guy on craigslist. He had already converted to a 4 prong plug all I had to do was switch out the original military tail light bulbs (24v and dim) and replace them with civilian bulbs (12v). Everything is there and in excellent condition. Spare tire holder in the bed, all the canvas supports, front and rear support legs, both military tail lights.

I think i remember there being a guy on here who said he knew a great deal about servicing these trailers? Looks like all I have to do is grease the bearings does anyone know what is involved in that?

That looks like Stillwater MN in the background if I am not mistaken. I am in Eau Claire, WI. Hello to a fellow Midwesterner! Nice trailer and rig. I have a mini version of your setup: 2006 4Runner and a Canadian M101. I would suggest a hub swap-out and matching wheels/tires to your truck. One spare is handy. Plus, if you are going to repack/replace hub parts anyway, may as well change it over to your bolt pattern.

Another place that has a very active trailer section is Expedition Portal. Give it a try too!

EOD thanks for the info! Does seem pretty confusing. From what I can tell it is saying other than military tires and rims they are no aftermarket options. An axel swap is way over my head.

While I am at here are some pictures of my truck off roading

Not too confusing. The wheel is a Budd, a truck junkyard, military surplus truck vendor, or a local military collector vehicle meet should be able to hook you up. It was also used on some other medium duty trucks, but it's easiest to describe as a Power Wagon or M37 wheel. Aftermarket option: Stockton

You can use any 16" light truck tire, a tall skinny is the most appropriate for the military rim, the 235/85-16 on mine work out nicely.;)

I mind.

J/k. agree that the trailer nicely fits the rig.

axle swap shouldn't be too terribly hard. just invite a bunch of local cruiserheads over, supply the beef n beers, and put on your armor: the swap'll get done pdq, and you'll have learned many new hummer insults. :p

Not much of a wheeling scene here. The nearest off road park is 3 or 4 hours away. So I have zero 4x4 buddies to help with mods.

Cruiser Nerd If i swap out the tires can I go tubless with the rims I have or would I have to switch rims to do that?

I have one of these trailers. I just bought a couple of spares from a military surplus shop. Got mine from another state and didn't want to worry about trying to get a flat fixed on a split rim in the middle of nowhere. For me the axle switch wasn't an option because of the hand brakes which are used to make it a dump trailer.

These trailers are dump trailers?

Yes there are. Manually operated but they will dump. There are two pins you pull in the front, set the two hand brakes and backup. Just be carefull not to over do it like I did. I use to back mine up until the straight up and down. The A frame pivots off the front spring mount. I broke one of mine and can't locate a replacement. Probably end up using a piece of heavy angle iron mount to the frame.

There are two pins connecting the draw-bars and the bed. Pull the pins and tip... viola a dump trailer.

Quite effective at extracting a squad worth the duffle bags in short order.... or your squad leader who decided YOUR trailer was a good place for HIM to sleep.

As for new wheels, you will have to get something with the proper lug space, and with your split rims it will be a bit more difficult getting a proper seal with tubeless tires. You can do it with the proper gasket set. If you are running the split ring type (M35-M35a2 type) you can run tubeless, but they are a PAIN to get off/on the rim... at least it was using the "proper tools" not a wheel machine.

You can also swap out your axle for that of a M101a3 which increases your payload to 1-ton from you 3/4 ton, and switches you to an 8-lug pattern. You will want the axles designated for the CUCV not the HMMWV. The HMMWV axles will lift the trailer a couple inches, the CUCV will keep it at the current level.

There is a BIG surplus store on Hwy 10 before Little Falls that has a bunch of trailers and M35 parts, but I don't know the name or exact location... I just see it on my way to lake country.

I haven't done a bearing re-pack on an M101a1-a3 in a few years, but I assume its like falling off a bike. So I am sure I can remember how to do it.

Well that's a nice bonus I wasn't expecting. I just bought one of these off a surplus auction as a general use utility trailer. Cost me a whopping $430.00 and being able to dump will come in handy for mulch and such.

I love these trailers, excellent utility trailer. These carry a ton, no problem. Mine won't go anywhere near vertical when dumping though, the lights are in the way.
