if you're fj comes with bridgestone duelers, like mine did, you'll want to upgrade those tires first. if you only have 1000 to work with, work on finding a deal for tires. i went with the stock 17" alloys and bfg at ko - due to financial constraints and the wife's angry eye and my new found obsession. plus the kids need some new summer clothes. anyway, tires. the stock tires suck ass.

I did the same thing: 5 BFGs for 662.00 installed incl tax and credit for the OEM tires.

Spend a little more, and get tires and order an ARB.

Proof that an aftermarket bumper can save the front end of your riig.

Had he not had an aftermarket bumper on his rig, there would be a whole lot more damage.

I plan on getting the ARB within a year after I get my FJ.
Tires first for me too though.

I did the same thing: 5 Goodyear Wrangler MTRs for $895 CAD installed with credit for the OEM tires. (I also upsized them to 285/70/17 but the truck hasn't arrived yet so I can't let you know if the tires rub)

Video Camera Surveillance System & Other FJ Upgrades

I will check out new tires for sure.

Depending how how the audio, video, & security system install goes i could have another $1,000 or so to upgrade for off-roading.

I'm keeping a blog complete with photos of my upgrades including the planned video camera system that will be a real pain in the arse to setup.

If my vehicle gets stolen my security system can upload or email pics of the driver to me, also the gps coordinates

Oliver

BTW- The ARB looks like a must have! I'm saving my pennies right now!
