Hopefully this is the right section for this. It does have a bit to do with home improvement equipment.
I've been looking for one of these for my youngest daughter for a while.
I collect and use mid-century sewing machines for various projects, and because I like old machinery. At some point along the way I found out that some companies made models that had paint schemes with various shades of pink. I began looking around craigslist semi-regularly for one of these gems. The plan was to find one I could give to my youngest daughter, and teach her to sew on it.
Just so you know I am a guy, yes I sew, and I find it very enjoyable. I work with antique woodworking machines, and other manly tools as well
.
The pictured machine is a Morse, and I was hoping to find one of these specifically. After WWII many domestic sewing machine companies sold rights to their names, as I understand it, to foreign manufacturers. So quite a few began production in Japan. The Japanese machines have a reputation for longevity, reliability, and for performing their function to a high standard, just like our Land Cruisers. Many also boast art deco design, and are even reminiscent of the automobiles of the time.
So why post this here, and why did I want a Morse?
I believe Toyota made them under other names too, but I do not know any off the top of my head. Also, as far as IH8MUD content, I do have to remove several dirt dobber nests from the machine when I service it.
Hopefully some of you can appreciate this, and maybe I'm not the only one who likes this sort of thing.
