Installed Hefty Fabworks rock sliders. These things are build like a tank. Chris @ Hefty said they were Apocalypse Proof. He wasn't lying. Installation was a breeze. Completely bolt-on. Didn't have to drill anything. Literally installed them in my apartment parking space in about 45 minutes. Would have been quicker if I'd had my floor jack handy.
Red Cone Trail 9/13/2014. FYI, there is a little sign on the trail just past where I took these pics (You can see it in the top pic). It says "Trail narrows - no full size vehicles - no turn around". It means what it says. I saw a Jeep come out so I decided to go in... bad move. Had to back up about 200yds on a cliff face with about 12"-18" of trail to spare before I plummeted a few hundred feet down. I had a mild panic attack LOL.
Got the ARB rear diff cover installed. Took about 30 minutes.
Also, I decided to reinstall the overload leafs out back. These were removed earlier when the Deaver 3-leaf AAL kit was installed. Adding them back lifted the rear approximately 3/4"-1". Ride did not suffer at all (some have said it makes the rear 'bouncy'); however I have a camper shell which added a couple hundred pounds of weight.
The overload leaf doesn't simply "go back in". The AAL kit includes the brackets which hold the leaf pack together. The overload leaf also has this bracket which interferes with the AAL bracket. What I did to solve this was to rotate the leaf around so that the bracket is in front. That way it clears the AAL brackets. Due to the added height of the AALs, the overload leaf bracket is not long enough to be able to replace the bolt so for now, I just left it open. I plan on modifying this bracket so I can reinstall the bolt/spacer, but for now it's fine. The U-bolts will keep it from moving around too much.
While I was in there, I also added a 3 degree angled shim to bring the drive-line back into spec.
Unfortunately, I'm out of time for GoneMoab. Here is the short list of items that I wanted to have done before Gone but isn't going to happen
Here are some random photos that aren't included in the timeline.
More photos of the Hefty Fabworks Prerunner-style winch bumper. I ended up not using those HID lights as they were too deep and hit the grill. If some of these photos look familiar, it's because Hefty used them for the website.
