Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to the forums. Was pining after a TLC for a long time; back in February I finally found one. I'll document here what I can about the truck, including what I paid, some history, and my baseline efforts. Hopefully it can help someone shopping around, or someone that is new to our forums looking for some guidance on baselining. Anyway, welcome to my TED Talk.

I bought the truck in February of 2024. This 100 series is a California native. Sold down in San Diego back in 2002, it was driven by someone for about 3 years before they sold it to the second owner, who then owned until 2024, when I (the third owner) bought it. It had 203k on the truck when I got it. The previous owner seemed to take pretty good care of it, but not to the point of coddling (he was a family guy with two kids that grew up going on camping trips with this thing). So, once I made the trip from SF back to LA (which went just fine), I set out to start baselining it.

Here is the list of items that I've done so far (note that this is not really my 'daily', but I do drive it 3-5 times a week):

Thanks for sharing. any further plans with it or keeping it mainly stock?

You’re welcome. I plan on keeping it mostly stock. No lift or anything like that. Next things on the list are CV joints, followed by suspension work like UCA and LCA. Once I knock those out, i think I’ll finally spend more time enjoying the trips than fixing her up. Don’t get me wrong, the tinkering is fun, but it has its limits, and ultimately I bought the truck to drive, not wrench on!

Man thank you so much for sharing! I'm a new owner of a 2007 with ~204k -- it had a robust maintenance history so lots of the preventative stuff has been done, but I definitely want to stay on top of it-- wish I had the video "how to" for all the things you performed above!

This time I remembered to get a Blackstone report for the oil change - see below. I wonder if there is a thread elsewhere comparing oil reports for the 2UZFE...
