I took the cruiser out for some camping two weeks ago. With all the snow we had, I ended up slugging through a bunch of it (i.e. 25 miles, 3hrs,1/3 tank fuel, plowing the diff from fish creek hill to roosevelt dam). Not more than 2-3in at tortilla flat, but close to foot at the dam. We ended up camping over by Rye. There's a lot less traffic when they close the roads after you're already there!
The only nuisance is dealing with the forest service (f150) with street tires and no chains.
