i started a new post tonight and typed my message text in, then attached a picture --

-- this f*cking program said "filename already taken" -- I don't know by whom it was taken, but everything I typed and stuff was all nuked --

-- just a pain in the butt, that's all -- went back and re-named the file and it did okay -- how am i to know others' file-names?

Unfortunately, YaBB does not distinguish file names between posters....same issue for avatars. One of a few things I'm not real pleased with in this software package. There really is NO way other than to rename to something "not" taken...and that's a guess.

Ideally, the software would break out from the attachments directory and create a new one based on yer username, or rename the files to "username-filename.gif" or something...

BTW: as of right now, there are 3366 total attachments....

if you dont know if the files already on here, best bet is to post the file with just a smiley, see if it works, if so edit it to type your message.

or just pad your post count and post again after the image ;)

[glow=black,2,2] I've mentioned this before ... a good , safe practise is to simply 'copy' your entire message to the clipboard BEFORE you press post ! That way if something goes south .. you simply right click and paste your message back in once again :D[/glow]
