I am searching for a good condition fj62. I found one online in the southeast and have had it inspected though I have not seen it. It’s apparently in very good and unmolested (is apparently the term) condition, and has no rust. A great vehicle for what I’m looking for.
But the interior smells and has areas of white on some surfaces that may be mold.
And my wife has health issues with mold.
There is someone there local who does a thorough steam and ozone cleaning including the vents, and the interior can be redone including new carpet, front seats, reupholstered rear seats, new panels on the door, etc. This according to those who do it would reliably remove smells and mold. It would be an expense but one I’m willing to make and it would also give a new looking and more comfortable interior.
My wife and I are uncertain as to how much to trust this process. I guess I’m looking for advice from anyone who (1) has experience dealing with mold illness and (2) experience with older musty vehicles in humid environments.
