We have finally decided to hit the Mojave trail starting outside of Laughlin with our 2 boys (6 & 2) next Friday-Sunday.

What are some things we should make time to stop and see on our trip?

I'm planning on doing it Thursday through Saturday. Everyone will tell you to get the Mojave Road Guide. It has a lot of good information on side trips and sight seeing.

If you have th Mojave Road Guide by Dennis Casebier, he lays it all out. They may have it for sale in a Laughlin bookstore or the Avi on the rez near the starting point.

The Kelso Train Depot and the Kelso Dune are cool. Great camp spots by the Dunes (drive east past the trail head and bathrooms. Kelso was named the #4 quietest place on earth

If you skip the section of road that goes by Marl Springs, you will miss out on a cool campsite and avoid MILES of whoops

There is a section of road closed.

In case anyone is wondering, the washed out section is passable. There's an off-camber spot next to a drop and there were some big ruts to drive through. I did it without hitting the center diff switch and my brother in law made it in his stock LX570 with me spotting him.

If you're concerned at all though, take the detour. It's not that much farther to go around it.
