What are some of your favorite Mohave trips and or death Vally I'm looking for intestine spots to go.historic and scenic

Almost anyplace in Death Valley is historical. My favorite hang out area includes the Panamint Mountains and the trails/roads leading into them. Some awesome mining camps. And with a little bit of research, you can take a step back in time with Prehistoric Native American Camp (Indians) and their legacy of art - petroglyphs. Another great area to do a run is Jail Canyon, and then up to Wildrose and then over to Skidoo to check out the mill. Or Darwin Falls and then do the road to Darwin. Some really neat places to stop along this route.

I can go on and on... much to see and do there. I highly recommend you get a copy of "Hiking Death Valley: A Guide to Its Natural Wonders & Mining Past." This book is a must for anyone exploring DV.

Good Luck... and if you ever see a Tan FJ40 Cruiser with plates of DV FJ40, stop and stay hello...

have you been to pleasant cny this may be my next trip and i will definitely stop and say hello weekend be for last pv temp was 90 degrees

i would vote for china garden spring near darwin, barker ranch off goler wash road or it might be warm springs road at that point, johnson canyon, trail canyon all those three in the panamints or nearly anywhere ive been there is actually pretty cool (or hot depending on how you look at it).

re: barker ranch, whatever bad you can say about charlie manson he had a good eye for real estate.

Titus Canyon, Golden Canyon, Devils Golf Course, Zabriski Point, Ryolite, 20 Mule Team Rd, Ubehebe Crater, Scotty's Castle.... These are some of my most fond memories of DV from when we visited many, many, many years ago (I was 11 then)...... Like the others stated.... The list goes on & on..... Also visit DV State Park website.... It's also pretty updated on what trails are open......

Went up Ballerrat canyon last time I was down there...theres some good wheelin, BEAUTIFUL scenery from the top, and some old adopt-a -cabins along the way you can stay in if theres no other wheelers in there. Saline valley is just AWSOME...its nice and tosty down there, but the desert scenery is great. There are some good wheeling trails up the sides of the canyon (we did "snowflake" last spring...then you can stay at the hot springs get a nice shower and soak in the hot tubs with naked people:eek:
For scenery, I agree that the Panamint Valley is top (as if there is a bad place for scenery there).
DV is my FAVORITE place to go. Everytime Im there, I just feel good!
I did a write up on my last trip BLOTCH 2006 here on my under this section.

The best trail/place is South Park Canyon, with the return down Pleasant Canyon. It takes some route finding to do it. Once you get up into South Park, head generally north and east. Look for the trails that go back west over Rogers Pass. That drops inot Pleasant.

Goler Wash/ Barker/Butte Valley is also remote, scenic and amazing.

Other great spots-Hunter mountain, Hidden Valley (extremely remote-bring 10 gal of water), the Racetrack, Saline Hot Springs.

If you are ambitious-drive into Suprise Canyon, then hike the 7 miles into Panamint City.

China garden spring is full of gold...... fish! I was amazed to see this gold fish pound in the middle of the desert. tow giant trees giving the fish shade there must be at least 50, and a couple coy fish were all so spotted. we tried to hike to the falls I think we got close but with out jumping in the creek i don't think its possible.

at the point where it appears you have to jump in the creek you go right up over the ridge and back down, then its not too hard to make it to the falls and then back out to the road if thats what you want to do. only sketchy part is the up and down the ridge...youll find the trail after you get to the top of the ridge.

of course this all depends on conditions...last i was there was in late may and it wasnt too washed out or anything.
