Date: 01/05/2009 BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
Modoc National Forest Announces Release of Motorized Travel Management DEIS
The Modoc National Forest, located in northern California, has announced the release of their Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Motorized Travel Management. The 45-day comment period for the DEIS will end on February 1, 2009. The DEIS examines the predicted environmental impacts associated with five alternatives that were developed in consultation with the Tribes, individuals, groups, and other governmental agencies for managing motor vehicle use on the Forest.
The Forest Service (FS) will host a series of informal information sharing meetings during the first full week of January (See schedule below for dates and places). FS personnel will be available at each of the District Offices, from 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm, to answer your questions about the DEIS.
These meetings are designed to help clarify the project, receive your input, as well as to allow you the opportunity to ask questions and get further information.
