I have a small military trailer, the kind that was used to haul a generator or welder and I would like to make a small utility trailer out of it. My question is will the bearings etc. hold up to 60 mile an hr. travel for long distances. Being military I suppose it would however I am not sure. thanks

Sure, after you inspect the bearings and repack them with decent grease if need be.

Remember, the larger diameter the tire, the fewer rpm's it turns. Don't put small tires on it.

I tow mine at freeway speeds all the time, 70+. I repack the bearings every year. These things are bullet proof if you do the PM.

I towed mine home last weekend. It had sat for the last 10 years. I popped the center cap off the hub to check it out before I got on the highway. The grease was there, but a little dry. After towing it for a few miles at 70, I pulled over and felt the hub. It was only a tiny bit warm. I checked again after 20 or so miles, still just warm.

I've had several of my 416's up over 80 without issue.. and the last one,, I checked the hubs for heat after 1 hr highway, 70-85mph and they were just warm to the touch.. which was rather good as it was a warm day in early august..
