I don't know much about those. But I tent camp some when I'm solo, and find I stay a lot cooler when I'm off the ground.
Anyone have any experience with the Mighty Kool? or icy breeze? Would love some real feedback on these portable "air conditioners". I sleep in in the FJ80 when camping and am wanting to stay cool for summer camping in Texas.

Many Thanks

Cool looking coolers. So are you going to keep the windows up on your cruiser and run a swamp cooler? Just my thought, but it sounds as uncomfortable as summer night heat and a little breeze.

I tent camp sometimes when I'm solo and find I'm much cooler off the ground and with a little breeze. If you could find an efficient 12v fan and decent power supply, I bet that would go a long way.

I fully second this. Makes a very big difference. I use a 12VDC computer muffin fan hooked up to a car battery.

If it's humid where you live a swamp cooler will be worthless. They work great in dry climates.

If it's Houston, they crank up the swamp heater in the summer. I have a not so fond memory of living there one summer and my truck AC was broken.

I plan my camping locations accordingly. Cool destinations in the summer and warm in the winter. Death Valley is great in November but I hardly want to camp there in the summer. That's why God made Colorado and the High Sierras. Besides, I like to camp a minimum of five days so I'd need to buy a minimum of 75 lbs of ice for the trip if I only ran that thing at night.

Great philosophy, kind of tough for people in the gulf states to work out though.

I suppose that I'll just need to stay home for the summer. Texas is SO hot, and living in Houston it takes 10 hours of driving to escape the heat if traveling somewhere else.

What about hanging out at the beach?

I'd rather stay home then take the kids to the beach in Galveston. :) kidding..... sort of.
I grew up in Vegas, we camped at Lake Mead a lot. Spent the days swimming, skiing, or up to your neck in the lake with a cooler of beer, nights wrapped in a wet sheet. Pretty good memories of waking up in the middle of the night and watching thunder heads walking across the desert mountains on lightning bolts or jumping in the lake at 3am to cool off.
