Metal-tech Roll Cages - Over 1000 sold!

For the last 10 years Metal-tech has been perfecting the roll cage for our FJ40's. Recently we just passed the 1000 cage mark. In late 2008 we started having our steel tubing custom milled for us and now buy our steel direct from the mill. This allows us to take our 2" .120" wall DOM-SRA tubing to a whole new level. Our tubing has 20-25% elasticity, this is up to 150% more elasticity than the industry standard. To get this level of tube higher quality steel must be used in the raw materials to produce our tubing, this is also far more expensive than the run of the mill DOM sold in the US. The higher elasticity tube far is superior in taking the shock loads than typical DOM tube. We also have our tube stress relived (the SRA part in the name) that once again ramps up the ability to handle large shock loads. (this is the real "Tech" part in our name)

Why 2" .120" wall DOM tube? Both the SCCA and SCORE list 2" .120" wall DOM tube as the minimum size for vehicle with the weight of an FJ40. Of course we are not all going to compete with our trucks, but their standards are there for a reason, and the place to start. Sure using smaller diameter tube is cheaper and a bit less weight, but your cage is not a place to cut corners.

How do they mount? Once again we don’t do the industry standard, in this case a 4x4" plate. We custom laser cut a 6x6" pad that has large radius on each corner. The radius eliminate sharp corners so the mounting pads don’t act like a can-opener and cut through the floor in a roll. Our rear mounts are full length for both the B and C pillar, laser cut to match the radius of the tub. Since the two pillars are on the same pad, it becomes a structural part of the cage and not just a good mounting system distributing the potential load of the cage. The photo above shows one of our our custom drivers side front A pillar plates.

Metal-tech Full Profile Cage kits start at $550 and are in stock!
