i was looking at some hanneman fenders that would look sick on my truck but my dad shut me down because they were made of fiberglass. i was hoping that maybe some of you would know of a fender that is the same style but made of metal.

someon, anyone, has to know if there are any metal baja style fenders?

what difference does it make to him if its fiberglass?
they make them out of fiberglass to be lite as possible

well he is worried about warping, wavyness in the glass, and sagging. o and cracking

Fiberglass is tough. I wouldn't worry about it. The weight reduction is worth it.

If you wheel in areas that body damage from trees is a high possibility, then stick with your stock fenders. If that is not a issue for you, then there shouldn't be any problems with the fiberglass fenders. But keep in mind, that fiberglass panels are not just a bolt in item. They require fitting, and finish work.

Also it is far cheaper for company's to make fiberglass molds, then to have custom stamped steel fenders. The only way you will end up with some baja styled steel fenders, is to either do it your self or have a hot rod shop rework your stock fenders.

hmm, you said they wont just be a bolt on piece, thats what my dad is worried about also... are they far off? what does it take to fir them most of the time? some bondo? more fiberglass?

From the little research I have done, you will need to drill the bolt holes your self. Some kits you may have to fabricate a lower mounting point as well, since they do not fit over the stock mounts. Best bet is to email or call the company you are looking at getting them through, and ask them about install time, and tools required.

They may require sanding around the door seam, hood seam, and around the corner lights to properly fit. If your door seams are to tight, you will hit the edge every time you open, and close the door. Also you will have to paint them, and if you want them to look as good as the rest of your truck, that means taking them into a paint shop and shelling out at least $200 just for the paint.
