13 week old golden retriever. My 4 year old son named him - his middle name is Stinger. I have two boys and a third due in April - this guy seemed like the perfect family dog for us. Never had a dog growing up but I'm looking forward to training him, bonding with him and the boys, and of course cruising in the 40 with him....

Awesome! Goldens are great dogs, family has had one since I was in High School and continues to get them. Very good temperament for small kids and super smart.

Been a while for us since we trained a small puppy but best thing I have learned/relearned so far is to re-enforce "settled" behavior. Meaning when you are just hanging out and they are not doing anything but hanging with you, not begging for a treat or anything like that you reward them with a treat. Has done wonders for our new little guy in the two weeks we have had him. When he isn't all amped up and chasing his siblings around he pretty much just hangs at our feet or nearby.

Other thing the rescue owner told us was that when they first get moved to a new environment it is stressful and reeks havoc on their GI. She said to add a little bit of organic yogurt to their food and it helps replace the good probiotics and bacteria in their system. You need stuff that HAS ASEDOPHOLIS, not aspartame.
