"Man, I had no idea this would be such a headache. I am just ready to get some new wheels."

Andrew, thats what happens when you are chasing a unicorn...

Holy **** that is funny.

Andrew. Did the original "I'll buy that for 25k" guys disappear?

I guess they are still around-at least one of them. That's a last resort though.

I got the dealer to knock off $3500 off the price.

I found a MUD member who lives nearby who offered to take a look at it on Wednesday.

If it checks out...Well, we will see what happens....

It is. As a matter of fact, after the reduction, it is in the bottom of the price scale for that year. I need to convince the wife that a 2011 with 70k is $10k better than a 2008 with 115k on the clock.

If I can get her on board, this might be the ticket.

Wifey is on board!

Now, about my FJ40...

I have had NOTHING but heartache from MS Auto Source. To those who tried to warn me and tell me that I shouldn't bother with them. (Ahem)...You were right, and I was wrong.

The original deal, was they would charge me $500 to let me use their lot and sell my car for me. This included putting ads on eBay, cars.com, craigslist, auto trader, etc. etc. I provided them with a 3-4 page document of all the work and mods performed. I was assured that they would take detailed pictures for me and that they would use my wordage in their ads. After 5 weeks of no ads, they finally put ads up on eBay and craigslist. Not only did they not take any pictures (they only used a few poser shots I gave them), but they also used virtually NOTHING that I wrote for a description. The ads are pathetic. After repeated attempts to contact them I was finally assured that I would have new pictures uploaded, and that my wordage would be used. Nope. Nothing. I got so fed up with them this morning, I drove over there and took my car back. I paid him $100 for letting me use the lot for the past 2 months, and for placing ads on the internet (as crappy as they were).

So now, I do this the right way; I am going to sell it myself on eBay and CL. I have sold 2 cars in the past on CL and have always gotten top dollar. I should have done this to begin with, but I was stubborn, and assumed that being on Lakeland Dr. would get my car sold quickly. I am sure that it got a lot of interest, but what good is interest if the people who are selling and unmotivated to sell, and like Bossman said, they could have even been not trying to sell it at all, as the car brings people to their lot and gets them free advertising.

I will wait for the CL ads to be pulled, and then I will make my own. I've got a good camera and I know how to use it. Wish me luck.

I realize that you likely paid what you are asking and just want your money back but it's really. Really hard to find someone that will pay $35,000 for a toy.

$25,000 is the magic number I've seen over the years. Get over that and your target market gets very small.

Also, were this a new car, RV or boat, losing $10,000 would be normal

Just might have to start getting it in your mind that asking and sell price may disappoint.

I hear you. At this point, I am willing to go pretty low. I have just dropped the price on MUD to $30,000. I will see if that helps or not, and will drop down from there if there is no action.

Well, this is it...

I found the 200 I have been looking for. I got a 200 cruiserhead to take a look at it for me, and he gave it the thumbs-up. I got the wife on board too. I dicked the dealer down pretty good, and got a little more off because of some hail damage on the roof. I am going to be putting down a deposit, and flying out and picking her up.

Here she is:

A wrench may have been thrown in the works. Wife is getting cold feet. She did the whole "Whatever you think is best" routine. I know that after only 5 years of marriage, that phrase really means "Go ahead and do it, and see what happens...I dare ya". This would such an easier sell to her if I had had my 40 sold already. This was after her saying that she liked this one and thought it was a good deal (conversation this morning).

Stay tuned for the fun...
