It's been traditionally used in the past for fog lights, and I think it looks cool. A lot of JDM tuners still do it too. I do it whenever I can. If anything, it just looks different.

gone too far.webp

David, its because of the bug shield, isn't it?

I don't think that has been modded yet. where do i find such buckets with blue plastic grate in bottom?
His sig line says it has. Buckets with grit guard: Griot's Garage, Chemical guys, Amazon, etc.

Men, this is technical thread. Please post the chatter in the Chat thread. We talk about important things here, like license plates.

@dnp the LEDs come from Amazon. Sold by Opt7. Take a look at them in person before you buy them. Very bright, but not as much throw as halogens.

Grit guards are nice, FWIW.

It's time to start thinking about winches.

Truck weighs about 6500lbs as it sits right now, so I am thinking I need a bit of a beefier winch in the 10k-12k range.

I will not be winching very often, so I am not going to be spending crazy amounts of dough on the top of the line WARN. But, considering this is an $80k truck with another $10k or so in accessories, I am not going to be buying a Harbor Freight either (no offense Hagan). I am looking for something in the middle of the road; maybe in the $800ish range.

I am thinking I am going to pull the trigger on the Smittybuilt X20 Gen2 12k

Great Reviews, Great Line Speed, Synthetic Line, Hawse Fairlead, Waterproof, Single Water Proof Relay, Wireless Remote, Lifetime Warranty, and a great price. Hard to resist, especially considering I may only need to use it once in a blue moon.

Nah it's personal preference. I like the flat ones just because they don't stick out as far...little more low profile. Of course i negated that feature by going with bright red, but oh well...

If you get a round red one, you'll look like Rudolf.

As for winching capacity, its recommend that you get one that pulls 1.5x the weight of your vehicle, so you're looking for a pull of 9750lbs. I'd save the coin and get a 9K or 9.5K winch. Reality is you won't spool out the entire line to get your full pulling capacity anyways. Also, if you get a synth line, I wouldn't get one any longer than 100ft, which does two things: saves you on cost and gives you better pulling capacity because you'll wind up spooling out more line.

I'll get a color besides red; maybe green or orange.
