Please report back on that area. Sounds like fun.
Here's a start about our club. Lost Coast 4x4's
The OHV area at Fort Rock is almost entirely atv and dirt bike trails. Drove to the top of China hat. long drive for nothing. No view because of the trees. Drove up nat. forest road 18 to Sabol Butte cinder pit and found a play area for atvs and had some fun hill climbing. the area is so huge that it would help to go with someone who knew the area. On our way to Pine Mtn,(something else we wanted to check out) we saw a sign about Ground Hog Butte rock crawling trail but did not check it out. Try googling. Pine Mtn has an observatory at the top. Nice drive from the north but slow and bumpy from the south.
Next day was spent west of Bend south side of hwy 46 and east of forest service road 45. A lot of unimproved service roads criss crossing the whole area with a few interesting spur roads. the most fun was following the power lines. went from mellow to a couple of technical spots. Heard that on the northern side of the newberry Volcanic Monument there is some good hills and a little more tech stuff but didn't have time to check it out.
Next time I will try to connect with one the Central Oreegon Cruisers out of Bend. So many Roads, so little time!
