Change 1 (10 May, 1100hrs): I called the NPS and spoke to them about Medano Pass. It is closed and will likely remain so through the remainder of May.

I suggest we run Mount Baldy, which is a NF trail that starts in southwest Colorado Springs (Broadmoor area) off Old Stage Road and Gold Camp Road.

The Trail Damage write-up was last updated in July, 2013. The link is HERE

Springs Meeting Time: 0800hrs
Springs Departure Time: 0830hrs
Springs Meeting location: SAFEWAY parking lot, 1920 S. Nevada Avenue

I was worried about that when this was put on the schedule, I remember talking about the road being closed last year until June. Not really worth going for that short little stretch to the picnic area. Also means you'd have to enter and leave from the south, and that's a long drive.

Might be time for plan B

I have left the Del Norte area and headed further North. If ya'll head to Montana give a shout.

But your avatar/signature still says "CO". Haha. Well, too bad you're no longer in the area but I hope things are good for you up there. Check out the new TLCA chapter up there, 406 Cruisers. Find a guy named TC (met him at Cruise Moab) and tell him that I sent you.

I updated the first post--recommend change trail to Mount Baldy for this Saturday--maybe do Medano in the "open slot" for June?

I'll probably be there this Saturday, Tracy.

I would love to do Medano, since I never have, but it would need to be June 25th, not the 18th.

I'm going to try to make it, Blew a radiator and overheated my 80 bad. May be a good ride for the bike maybe.

I think I'm in. What time will we be back you think?

TD site indicates that it is 6+ miles, so I assume a 12+ mile round-trip. If we budget an hour at the dead-end for lunch etc., I estimate we'd be about 6-7 hours, so returning to pavement at 1500hrs, approximately.

I would like to come on Saturday (my first ride with Colorado Land Cruisers). Is the meeting time and place still SAFEWAY on Nevada at 8:00?
Malcolm

Yes, Malcolm, meet up at the Safeway on south Nevada after 0800hrs but before 0830hrs. Group departs the linkup point at 0830hrs.

As of Friday morning, it looks like SAS, wpsfan, Grimeless, Spadone, and Maldavid; with a maybe from Stokes and greenrover.

And thank-you to the mod who changed the thread title from "Medano Pass" to "Mt. Baldy".

Six trucks in today's lineup; we had a good time on the trial today despite not making it to the end of trail due to the snow drifts. For those who weren't there, we made it about 1/4 or 1/3 the way up the trail and hit deep snow drifts, so we figured it probably wise not to push our luck.
