Massive Toyota Recall

Is it hard on the transmission to coast in neutral and then putting it into drive to increase speed to save gas? I do it all the time.

This has minimal effect on the transmission. As long as you are not giving it gas while you switch into drive you should be ok. When the transmission is in neutral, there is no effective gear selected, so it should be ok. When you put it back into drive, it will select the appropriate gear (minor and normal wear at that point).

Good for you! Hopefully, you will continue to be so lucky. unlike those who have already crashed their cars and been hurt, or even killed as a result of the accelerator problems. I am also upset and worried about this recall since I just bought my Toyota car last month, I am now planning to return it and have it properly checked if it's safe to use. :(

I really enjoy reading timely and well informed comments and remarks like this.

Are you getting paid for it?

Maybe he's still on an old dial-up connection and his post has only just arrived.

Who and what is he saying "good for you" for? And "Toyota car," I don't think I've ever heard of someone refer to a brand of vehicle like that. Idk, but that whole thing sounds odd on top of being spam. Kinda sounds like he's a... ROBOT ZOMBIE!!! :crybaby:

It happened to me once on my 09. I floored the gas padel with 2 carpets on it. So I put to neutral park aside. Hold the On/off switch to turn off the car, remove the rubber carpet and step on gas pedel again. Then I heard a "pop" sound and it fixed the problem.

It was my fault to place 2 carpets on the floor. That makes the gas pedal articulate in a wrong way and cause the pedal to stay accelerated.

If you have all wather carpet, you can try it on yourself but be casreful not to get an accident.

If you never floor the gas pedal, even with 2 carpets on it, it will never happened to you.

Sucks that they discontinued the mats for the 200 series because of this. I have mine but drivers is pretty worn.
