Hello guys,
I've got two club questions to ask:

Question 1: Tonight I showed up at the meeting location on the front page of the website. I arrived around 6:00pm and waited around till about 6:30 for someone to show, but no one did. Is the meeting times and locations still at Cafe Bella at 6:00pm and is there a forum where the status of the meeting could be listed beforehand (e.g. meeting is cancelled, delayed, etc.)?

Question 2: Why Cafe Bella? Does someone from GCC own it? Personally, when looking at cruisers and talking about cruisers and various other macho past-times I like to eat some BBQ or some other really bad for me food and then wash it down with a cold beer (or two)! No offense to Cafe Bella--I had a good Panini sandwhich and some decent coffee--but generally the only time I visit a coffee house is to drink coffee.

Now...I realize I'm not a voting member (not yet anyway) and therefore don't have any such powers to invoke a wave of change with GCC. So please accept my questions as lighthearted and unoffending as possible...:hillbilly

Cheers,
Matt

Matt,

Let me be the first to apologize of the not being at the OKC meeting. I've been real busy lately, and I always hope that there will be "others" there to be at the meeting at cafe bella. Bo owns Cafe Bella, and he's a clubmember who owns a 1983 FJ40, and a UZJ100, but I don't see a reason to change where it is being held if it would increase attendance! (no offense either Bo!)

Do you have a good place in mind? Once in a while, things need to change, and I'll be the first to say that new blood in the club would be *greatly* welcomed!!! There are so many of the "regular" clubmembers that a more and more short on time (for whatever reason), and more input and suggestions from other people would be super!

We'd love to see you in Tulsa next month at the annual club elections! That really irritates me that I got busy and forgot it was the OKC meeting! I just got a (new to me) 1977 FJ40 that I wanted to bring up the local meeting! Ahhhrrrg!

Thanks so much for your input!!!

Bret

The next Tulsa meeting is April 15th at Ollie's?

The stuff of the web site is definately outdated - the last news letter update was from 3 years ago.

Perhpas someone could put up a reminder a week or so before?

Bret,
Thanks for the reply...Cafe Bella was a good coffee house, but IMHO not a cruiser hangout (sorry BO). I don't know a great alternative yet (I hate it when people criticize something and don't offer an alternative), but I will be on the prowl when I return to OKC. I like the set-up/feel of old car-hop places, where we can park the rigs in a nice line and go gawk at them, drink some beer, then make plans to hit some rocks/mud/trails the following weekend and/or do some wrenching (or polishing for you 100 guys/gals). ;)

I think the idea of Walking Eagle's is a sound one. We could use this forum right here for the announcements (everyone thank Woody) and we'd be up to date as to who is coming.

I'm gonna try to make the Tulsa meeting next month (my rig will still be down at the rate I'm going). Thanks again for the reply.

Cheers,
Matt

P.S. Did you sell a 40 to Chris K.? I think he's in love...

Matt, just let us know where you think a good place might be, maybe up in your neck of the woods, as we seem to have more OKC GCC people up north. The weather, and the fact that I had a lot of stuff going on, was my excuse for not showing.

The 40 that Chris K has was Jody's. I was there last Thursday when he brought it down from Oklahoma, and I told Chris that I knew a lot about that particular cruiser. He was fairly pumped up about it, but I couldn't convince him to do a full restoration on it, but he did say he was going to fix the rusted sections.

Cool. He doesn't even know what he wants....click this

Everyone is telling him the same thing...keep it stock. Well, I told him to give it to me, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm in Sonora, TX right now (armpit of the gas industry), but when I return I'll do some scouting. Anyone have some suggestions?

Cheers

Move to the North....

I like the idea of moving the location a little more to the North. I also like the idea of a BBQ or Burger joint with outdoor seating, a beer option. Any places along old 66 that might work? Maybe check some local Hot Rod Clubs to see where they meet.

In Houston we had a Princes Hamburger place that gave a discount to our club, served beer, had outdoor seating and was right along Westhiemer so on a Saturday night you would see lots of Rods and Customs out cruising.

I will keep my eyes peeled for a place or two to suggest.

Later,
Keith

Keith, If you can find a place on the north side, let's do it! I'm not real sure of any BBQ or burger joint up there along Route 66, but I think it is time to find one so we can start having our meetings there. Hopefully, that will renew interest in the OKC meetings!

Let's DO IT!!

I'm all over it! I will post some options before the next meeting and we can decide.

Folks,

This month's Tulsa Green Country Cruisers meeting AND club elections have been moved from April 15th to APRIL 22nd for a few different reasons.

The 15th was too close to the recent April 1st Poker Run. Moving it another week out will give people more time regroup to go the meeting on April 22nd.
More people tend to forget about the *3rd* Saturday being in the middle of the month, like it is this month. Moving it to the 4th Saturday (April 22nd) should help increase attendance for that date.
Tax day is April 15th, so who know's what that means for everyone?!
Randy/Ellen may have their new FJ Cruiser there at the April 22nd meeting since they are supposed to take delivery of it on April 17th.
TULSA GCC MEETING IS APRIL 22ND, 2006. MARK YOUR CALENDARS TO BE THERE!

GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR CLUB!

Thanks Okie_dave.

April 22 at Ollie's Station Restaurant? 4070 Southwest Boulevard ?

What time?

The meeting is scheduled from noon until 1. Usually we chat over lunch and the meeting kind of kicks off around 1, so don't worry about being late.

We are usually in the back room at Ollie's - straight back and to the left.
