Over the past month, my drivetrain started developing an intermittent 'chirping' noise when idling in neutral, and when the clutch is initially depressed during changing gears. I have about 35,000 kilometers, or 22,000 miles on my vehicle.

I brought my vehicle to the dealer today and they are ordering a replacement throw-out bearing and clutch assembly. It's all covered under warranty, but a pain in the butt nonetheless.

I don't know if others have developed a similar problem.

Do you hang your foot over the pedal between shifts?

this causes excessive wear :)

No. Every vehicle I'ved owned has had a manual transmission, and this is the first time I've experienced this type of problem.

A quick search of the internet has revealed that others are experiencing a similar problem, however I'm not sure how wide spread a problem it is among FJ owners with manual transmissions.

Hopefully the replacement throw-out bearing and clutch assembly will alleviate the problem forever.

I heard this is a newly found problem with the MT6. I'm dissapointed for sure. I'm going to the dealer with a list of grievances about the 2007 FJ and see what can be done. This includes the Throw Out bearing, the R&P gears, and the Transfer case (It sometimes sticks in 4 Low and is hard to shift out of 4 Low).

The dealer replaced my throw-out bearing and clutch assembly today. They said the root cause was a defective throw-out bearing. Hopefully the replacement bearing is of better construction.
