I have used mag drills in the past (structural steel work) and found them to be very handy. I never used one with a conventional chuck. The angular bits make short work of thick steel as long as you use oil. I have found when drilling hot rolled plate, if you remove the mill scale your bits won't break. Awesome find!
You will need to use a slug pin to prevent the coupon from breaking the angular bit (not sure Im using the correct terminology).

I use a Milwaukee MD daily.. I mainly use annular bits for 1/2" to 2" holes, but also use a standard chuck from time to time.. I am going to build a cradle stand for mine so I can use it on a variety of materials..
