Maggies Gulch to Telluride overland route help Any directions or trails maps that would get a friend of mine from from Maggies Gulch to Telluride?
He is looking for super easy trails (he'll be in a rented jeep wrangler) and just wants a light offroad adventure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the BCC corner. Well first of all there are virtually no "Overland Routes" in Colorado. Not by my somewhat traditional (pre ExPo craze) definition of an overland route at least. There are some great trail systems in the areas that he might want to check out.

The Maggie Gulch trail is an out and back. definitely worth it for the scenery and exploring some of the mining ruins. Where is he renting the Jeep and where is he staying? Planning on spending the night in the same place? The two classic routes that I would recommend for someone in the San Juan's are below. Note the links for detailed info.

550 > Opher Pass > Telluride > Imogene Pass > Ouray. Any stock jeep would do fine on this route and it's beautiful.

Or the Classic Alpine Loop which is a long but rewarding day. Doesn't get you into T-Ride though.
Engineer Pass > Lake City > Cinnamon Pass

He is staying in San Juan at a friends cabin? I guess it's the only cabin out there at 10,800 or something like that.

Thanks, the links are helpful.
