I stopped by Brians house before he left for Moscow. He gave me a used set of MAF rear springs with an add-a-leaf. I broke the packs apart over the weekend, Brian not sure how old you said the packs were but they have a ton of rust. Maybe MAF had them manufactured with cheap metal.

Anyway Brian said they started to sag and added the add-a-leaf. I haven't measure the add-a-leaf yet but I hope it will fit in the front packs. We were talking about mixing the leafs from the stock packs and the MAF's..

So the Q for now is what leafs do you think I should use? How will they affect the lift? After talking this over with brian I'm not expecting more then 1.5 iches front and rear using just the rear MAF packs and the factory fronts with the add-a-leaf. If I add longer leafs from the factory rears to both packs do you think this might reduce the lift?

First off, I had nothing to do with the add-a-leaves; that was the PO, who didn't care for those springs either. I think unless you want the truck at stock height Dave, I'd clean them up a bit, swap some leaves side to side (I had some leaning as well) and then put them back in like you took them apart. You saw my truck- it sagged a bit with those springs in the rear. For the front I'd go with an extra leaf from your rear springs cut down and then an add-a-leaf for each. It'd be cheap (you're spending maybe $120 for new ubolts, a pair of add-a-leaves, and some bushings) and it'd give you a bit more height without sacrificing ride.

But by now you've probably already done something with them?

Ya.. I broke down the spring packs and pulled the add-a-leafs. Then I placed the leafs with the greatest arch in one pile and those with less arch in the other. Then I started from the main springs and went from side to side with the leafs making them as even as I could. The one with the best arch is going on the drivers side. Im not sure how I will handle the fronts until I change out the rears. With no money we will have to see how the old ubolts hold up until I can get some new ones.

Ugh. I've stripped out ubolts before- it's *really* easy to do with old ones. I certainly wouldn't reuse the old ones, not if you plan on driving it anywhere with your kids in it! A friend this summer broke the front ubolts on one of our fire engines. It was low speed and everyone was fine, but it's not something I would tempt... Wait 'till you've got the dough and then finish the swap.
